Forthcoming new features and how current Admin system going to be changed.

Mig33 one of the largest global community which makes us possible to chat via mobile phone, VOIP calls, sms and many more. I have been using this mig33 since January 2006. It seems they going to introduce new futures with their coming version 4.1 next week. In version 3.05 and before there was a feature to private a user even though he/she is not in contact list. Later it was removed but In coming version, they have added it again. Versions 4.XX are completely diferent than 3.08 and earlier versions in look and feel. Many people are complaining that 4.XX are very slow and heavy to handset. I was avoid using 4.XX versions because, it takes long time to load the contact list and untill it finishes, we have to wait. But in 4.1 version, immediate after logged in we can see the working interface .There are many fresh features also added .

From next week they going to introduce the concept “owner” of new chat rooms thus An ‘Owner’ of a new chat room is effectively the Admin for that chat room they have created. They introducing this concept for the fact all the chat rooms cannot be moderated by current few Administrators. And they stating that “Users have asked for a long time to have more control of their chatting experience, so they want to give those users who want to manage part of the mig33 community a chance to customize the experience”. With this new concept users can create their own mini community.

This will be applied only to the rooms that will be created in future and at this time existing rooms will continue to function as they do now. But in future may be the existing rooms also converted to this concept after considering user’s feedback. The owner can create the room and set keywords and descriptions to his rooms. Moreover he can configure the room whether kicking is allowed there or not. The room owner can kick the users regardless kicking is allowed in that particular room and also he can designate his power to other users since he can’t moderate his room all the time. Current Administrators won’t have any special power in owned chat rooms and they will be appeared as just ordinary users. Owner can ban the users from his room (he/she can’t ban users from other rooms). Any number of rooms can be created without cost but customizing the room won’t be free.

This owned chat room concept raises many questions in our mind. Obviously all the users will create new rooms to get Administrator power to those rooms and there are many chances they can abuse their power in those rooms. And the role of current Administrators will be limited only to existing rooms. Their one answer is, in the sense that chat room owners who misbehave won’t be able to attract users to visit his/her room.

I just briefed about the Owner concept which going to introduce next week. Lets see whether It is gonna be success one or changes will be needed on this concept:-).
